For every dark chapter, such as those involving child abuse and crimes against children, there’s a chance for healing.
After 20 years as a Special Agent specializing in child abuse cases with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Leigh Brooks developed a profound passion for protecting children and pursuing justice for victims of crimes against children. Her dedicated work led to the arrests and convictions of countless offenders—many receiving life sentences—shedding light on some of the darkest cases imaginable.
To further amplify survivor voices, Leigh created Daylight After Darkness. This podcast shares the powerful stories of victims before, during, and after the prosecution of their abusers—narratives filled with pain, resilience, and hope. Through her extensive experience, Leigh witnessed how often children aren’t believed when they disclose abuse, making this podcast a vital space to honor those truths and the incredible strength it takes to move forward.
I’m Leigh Brooks, a retired Special Agent with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. I dedicated over two decades to law enforcement, starting my career as a patrol officer in 1995 and later focusing on crimes against children for 20 years. Throughout my career, I’ve investigated a range of cases from child abuse and exploitation to homicides and child deaths, successfully securing convictions in every case I brought to trial.
I’ve had the honor of training officers and child advocates across Georgia and the U.S., including at national conferences and specialized law enforcement centers.
With my initiative, Daylight After Darkness, I’m sharing the stories behind the work—real cases, hard truths, and the voices of survivors that bring hope from shining light in the darkest places.
In this episode, l highlight the investigation involving Tiffany's case, to include how l obtained evidence in this case, and where the perpetrator is now.
